Overview:
Trimetazidine is a heart medicine that helps reduce chest pain (angina) by helping the heart use oxygen better. It doesn’t affect blood pressure or heart rate. It’s usually used with other heart drugs. Side effects are rare but may include dizziness, nausea, or movement issues.

Uses:
Trimetazidine is mainly used to treat angina (chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart). It helps people with long-term heart conditions feel better by reducing chest discomfort and improving their ability to stay active. In some cases, it may also be used to help with dizziness or ringing in the ears (tinnitus) caused by poor blood flow.
How it works:
Instead of changing heart rate or blood pressure like many heart drugs, Trimetazidine works at the cellular level. It helps heart cells produce energy more efficiently, even when oxygen levels are low. This supports heart function and reduces the pain or discomfort caused by angina.

Not for sudden chest pain: Trimetazidine does not relieve sudden or severe chest pain, so it shouldn’t replace fast-acting medications for emergencies.
Movement disorders: It may worsen symptoms in people with Parkinson’s disease or similar conditions, so it’s not usually recommended for them.
Kidney function: People with kidney problems may need a lower dose or special monitoring.
Older adults: Extra care may be needed when giving this medicine to elderly patients.
