Overview:

Clidinium Bromide is a medication used to help reduce stomach acid, cramps, and spasms in the digestive tract. It works by relaxing the muscles of the stomach and intestines and is often combined with other drugs, like chlordiazepoxide, to treat conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) or peptic ulcers. It helps improve abdominal soreness, gas, and general stomach upset.

Classification: Muscarinic (M1) receptor antagonist

How it works:

Clidinium Bromide works by blocking muscarinic (M1) receptors in the digestive tract. This reduces the action of acetylcholine, a chemical that normally stimulates muscle contractions and glandular secretions in the stomach and intestines. As a result, it loosens gut muscles, decreases intestinal contractions, and decreases acid secretion, relieving abdominal pain and bloating.
