How it works:
Mirtazapine works by balancing natural chemicals in the brain—mainly serotonin and norepinephrine—that affect your mood and emotions. It blocks certain receptors (like alpha-2 and serotonin receptors) to boost the release of these “feel-good” chemicals, which helps reduce feelings of sadness, anxiety, and stress. It also has a calming effect, which is why it can help with sleep.
