Oxymetazoline

Oxymetazoline 0.05% Nasal Spray

Oxymetazoline is a fast-acting nasal decongestant used for temporary relief of a stuffy nose caused by the common cold, allergies, or other nasal conditions. It works by constricting (narrowing) the blood vessels inside the nasal passages. When these vessels are swollen (dilated), breathing becomes difficult—this medicine shrinks them, allowing easier breathing for up to 12 hours.

Its Benefits

Rapid Onset: Works within 5–10 minutes.

Long-Acting Formulation: Provides relief from nasal congestion for up to 12 hours after a single use.

Alleviation of Sinus Pressure/Heaviness: Helps reduce sinus congestion and facial pressure.

Localized Action: Acts directly in the nose with minimal effect on the rest of the body.

Dosage

  • Gently blow your nose before use.
  • Keep your head upright.
  • Insert the nozzle into one nostril while closing the other.
  • Inhale gently while pressing the spray.
  • Repeat for the other nostril.
  • Clean the nozzle with warm water after use.

Usual Adult Dose: 2–3 sprays per nostril, not more than twice in 24 hours.
