OZENOXACIN

Overview:

Ozenoxacin is an antibiotic cream used on the skin to treat impetigo, a common and contagious infection that causes red sores, usually in children. It works by stopping the bacteria from multiplying, helping the infection clear up faster, and is gentle enough that very little of it gets absorbed into the body.

Classification:Topical quinolone antibiotic.

Uses:

Ozenoxacin is a skin antibiotic used to treat impetigo, a contagious infection that often causes red sores or crusts, especially in young children.

How it works:

The mechanism of action of Ozenoxacin is its ability to inhibit the action of bacterial enzymes known as DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV which are required by bacteria to replicate their DNA, repair it, and transcribe it. In the absence of these enzymes, the bacteria are unable to multiply and die which clears the infection.

Dosage:As prescribed by your doctor.

Side effects:

  • Mild skin irritation
  • Itching at the application site
  • Redness or dryness of the skin
  • dry, irritated, or swollen eyes

Precautions:

Before using Ozenoxacin, let your doctor know if you have allergies to any medicines or skin products. Avoid getting the cream in your eyes, mouth, or inside the nose, and do not apply it to large open wounds or severe burns. Use it only for the full course prescribed, even if the skin starts looking better, to make sure the infection is completely gone.
