PRUCALOPRIDE

Overview:

Prucalopride is a drug that helps treat long lasting constipation, particularly which is not occasioned by other conditions or drugs. It acts by activating the bowel muscles in order to assist movement to proceed in a more natural state. It is not a standard laxative; it affects a special receptor in the gut in order to introduce regular bowel movements.

Classification:Selective 5-HT₄ receptor agonist

Uses:The most common indication of prucalopride is the treatment of constipation in adults, particularly constipation that has persisted and has not been improved by other methods of therapy such as adjusting the diet, increasing fiber or laxatives. It allows the bowel to empty more regularly by encouraging natural activity in the gut softly, and therefore it can pass stool easier and more comfortably.

How it works:
Prucalopride will kick start your bowel again. It is an indirect stimulant of the bowel as it stimulates the nerves in your stomach that are in charge of movement of the bowels enabling the bowels to move more freely. It does not only harden up your bowels like a laxative; it restores your body to regular healthy bowels.

Precautions:Tell your doctor about your depression, mood disorders and suicidal thoughts before using Prucalopride since this medication can occasionally influence mood. Also tell them that you have kidney problems as the drug is removed via kidneys. It is normally not advised to take during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless there is an obvious need. Until you understand how it affects you, be cautious with activities such as driving since it can make you either feel dizzy or fatigued.
