Secnidazole: Usual Dosages and Potential Side Effects

Secnidazole is a new generation antibiotic that belongs to the nitroimidazole class of drugs. It is beneficial for treating certain bacteria and parasites. It is also extremely efficient and found to have a very long half-life, preferred due to its use in a single-dose treatment to clear symptoms.

How It Works

Secnidazole acts to block DNA synthesis in anaerobic bacteria and protozoa. This interference has the effect of disrupting genetic material of these microorganisms and therefore reduces their potential for reproduction, helping the infection clear up in the body.
