Cefuroxime
CEFUROXIME
Overview:
Cefuroxime is an antibiotic that is applied to a broad group of bacterial infections. It aids in combating pulmonary, throat, ear, urinary, skin and soft tissue infections. Cefuroxime prevents the increase of bacteria in growth to relieve symptoms and accelerate the recovery process. It is an antibiotic of a kind known as cephalosporin.
Classification: Second generation cephalosporin antibiotic.
Uses:
Applicable in lung and chest infection like bronchitis and pneumonia.
In case of throat, sinus and ear infection.
UTIs can be treated with this.
Prescribed by the doctor sometimes in the case of bone, joint or abdominal infections.
How It Works:
Cefuroxime acts by not allowing bacteria to develop the protective walls that the bacteria require to survive. In their absence, the bacteria is degraded, and the immunity of the body eliminates infection.
Dosage: As prescribed by doctor
Side Effects:
Some people may experience:
Light stomach discomfort, nausea or diarrhea.
Headache or dizziness
Mild skin rash or itching
Should there be any severe allergic reaction, i.e. swelling, difficulty breathing or severe rash, notify concerned doctor.
Precautions:
Inform your doctor when you are allergic to Cefuroxime, penicillin, or other antibiotics. Your medication can be switched in case of kidney/liver problems. Consult your doctor in case of severe or persistent diarrhea. Use Cefuroxime as prescribed and follow them to the end.
