Uses:
Fluticasone is used to treat allergies, asthma and COPD and some skin diseases. Since it is in the form of a nasal spray, it treats conditions like sneezing, runny nose and other allergic reactions. When applied as an inhaler, it helps deal with asthma and lung complications by reducing lung inflammation. It comes in powdered form, a cream or ointment and treats skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis or rash and aids in providing relief against itching, redness and swelling.
How it works:
The mechanism of action of fluticasone is inhibition of inflammatory processes in the body. Being a corticosteroid, it enters the cells and inhibits the issuing of substances that cause inflammation, swelling, redness, and itch. The act relieves the symptoms of asthma and allergies and also the irritations to the skin. It helps in breathing by calming inflammation in the airways of the lungs and relieving allergic reactions or irritation on the skin or the nose.

Precautions:
Prior to the use of fluticasone, it is necessary to inform the doctor of any infection, tuberculosis or any illness related to your lungs, nose or skin depending on the mode of its use. It should not be used on chapped or abraded skin or infected skin, without consent of a doctor. Precaution should be taken when used in the long term as it may lead to side effects like thinning of the skin or immune system deficiency. Also make sure that your eyes do not touch the fluticasone cream or ointment. This medicine may interact with other drugs therefore it is advisable to consult your physician in case of pregnancy, breastfeeding, and other prescriptions.
