Dutasteride belongs to a class of medications known to be 5-alpha reductase inhibitors used in the treatment of symptoms of Benign Prostate Hyperplasia (BPH). Dutasteride shrinks prostate size by stopping the enzyme that converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT).

Directions

Administration: Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water. Do not break it or apply any pressure on it to be cut open as the contents might prove irritable to mouth and throat.

Women: Dutasteride must not be handled or taken by women, particularly those who are or may become pregnant. The medicine can be absorbed through the skin and affect a developing male fetus.
